Our research, based on internet searches from Semrush, shows that Broadway at the Beach is the No. 1 favorite South Carolina attraction.
The shopping plaza and entertainment complex in Myrtle Beach includes Broadway Grand Prix, with seven go-kart tracks, two miniature golf courses and an indoor arcade. There are also dozens of restaurants, four bars and shops offering all kinds of goods at the complex.
Second on our list is Brookgreen Gardens, a very different type of draw that’s also in Myrtle Beach. The facility has a sculpture garden and a wildlife preserve, and it includes The Lowcountry Zoo, home of native species as well as animals that have been injured and cannot survive in the wild.
Coming in at No. 3 among South Carolina attractions is Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens in Charleston County. The mansion and grounds date back a few hundred years and the facility offers tours.
History also abounds at the two places tied for No. 4 selection on our list, Middleton Place and the Fort Sumter National Monument. Middleton Place is another historic mansion in Charleston, and guests can stay the night as well.
Fort Sumter, as anyone even somewhat interested in American history can tell you, was the site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired in 1861, shortly after South Carolina was the first state to secede from the Union. Today, National Park rangers offer tours explaining the history of the fort.
